Thursday, September 17th 2026 Press Release by Nomad76 Yesterday, 20:57 Discuss (3 Comments) GL.iNet, a global provider of secure and customizable networking solutions, today announced the launch of Fortify (GL-MT6000), a high-performance Wi-Fi 6 VPN router developed in collaboration with ExpressVPN.
Built on GL.iNet's established Flint 2 hardware and networking platform, Fortify combines high-performance home networking with ExpressVPN's VPN and privacy technology to provide a simpler way to manage VPN protection across the home. Fortify comes with 12 months of ExpressVPN's Advanced plan for new and returning users, bringing the router and VPN service together in an integrated experience from initial setup.
Expanding the GL.iNet and ExpressVPN Partnership
Fortify represents a strategic expansion of the collaboration between GL.iNet and ExpressVPN.
While the two companies have previously worked together within the router ecosystem, Fortify marks the beginning of a longer-term co-branded router partnership focused on creating more closely integrated networking and VPN experiences.
Through this partnership, GL.iNet and ExpressVPN aim to make network-level VPN connectivity easier to access and manage while continuing to deliver the performance, flexibility, and control expected from a high-performance home router.
A High-Performance Foundation for Fortify
Fortify is built on GL.iNet's Flint 2 (GL-MT6000) platform, combining powerful networking hardware with GL.iNet's flexible router software and networking features.
The router delivers dual-band AX6000 Wi-Fi 6, with maximum wireless rates of up to 1,148 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 4,804 Mbps on the 5 GHz band, together with 4×4 MU-MIMO to support multiple connected devices efficiently.
Fortify features:
At launch, Fortify integrates ExpressVPN via WireGuard, with VPN setup and management built directly into GL.iNet's router interface.
A Partnership Built on Complementary Strengths
GL.iNet provides the networking hardware, firmware, and router platform, drawing on its experience developing secure, flexible, and high-performance networking products for users around the world. ExpressVPN provides the VPN service and privacy technology integrated into the Fortify experience. The collaboration allows both companies to focus on their respective areas of expertise while creating a more integrated and accessible VPN router experience for modern households.
12 Months of the ExpressVPN Advanced Plan Included
Every Fortify router includes 12 months of ExpressVPN's Advanced plan for new and returning users.
The subscription enables customers to use ExpressVPN through Fortify and through ExpressVPN apps on their personal devices when away from their home network.
ExpressVPN's Advanced plan also includes additional privacy and security services such as ExpressKeys, ExpressVPN's zero-knowledge password manager; Advanced Protection for blocking ads, trackers, malicious sites, and adult content; and ExpressMailGuard for email privacy.
These additional ExpressVPN Advanced plan features are available through ExpressVPN's apps and services rather than directly through the Fortify router interface.
