Village in the Shade Western Release Will Receive Free Post-Launch Updates

NIS America has announced that the upcoming Western release of its rural life simulation game, Village in the Shade, will include several post-launch content updates, as well as paid DLC. 

The schedule is as follows:

September 29, 2026 (Tue) Release – Free Update Patch Part 1

• Addition of furniture, livestock, and catalog features; farmland expansion

October 27, 2026 (Tue) Release – Free Update Patch Part 2

• Addition of protagonist’s birthday event and more

Spring 2027 Planned Release – Paid DLC

• Additional scenarios, additional systems, additional standalone events, new maps, etc.

The title is available in Japan and Asia for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Publisher NIS America is scheduled to release the game in the West on October 27, 2026.

In this Japanese mountain village setting of Kagatsu, you’ll plant crops, customize your homestead, and befriend a vast cast. However, it’s advised not to speak to strangers or leave the village, especially at night. Curiosity abounds as you purchase furniture for house decorations and engage in typical farming tasks.

Traditional Japanese festivals and activities, such as the summer festival and cherry blossom viewing, are also available, allowing you to get closer to other villagers. However, Kagatsu’s truth is veiled in secrecy, making it difficult to discover on one’s own.
