IO Interactive has announced its decision to delay the release of 007 First Light on Nintendo Switch 2, to allow more time to polish the game’s performance on the portable home console successor.
“Today we would like to provide an update on the Nintendo Switch 2 release of 007 First Light,” IO Interactive shared in an update on social media.
“We know many of you have been looking forward to experiencing Bond’s reimagined origin story on Nintendo Switch 2, and we greatly appreciate your enthusiasm. To ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect, we have made the decision to delay the release to March 2027, with the exact date to be communicated later. This additional time will go toward polishing the Nintendo Switch 2 performance of the game.
“We were thrilled by the positive feedback on 007 First Light at gamescom, and it’s a great sign of the progress being made across the whole game as we head toward launch. The same demo will be playable at Tokyo Game Show this week, so please join us there if you would like a hands-on experience.
“We will share further updates as soon as we are ready. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support.”
007 First Light is a third-person action-adventure game that blends IO Interactive’s signature stealth and action gameplay mechanics, featuring a fully original, re-imagined origin story of a young James Bond.
You will step into the shoes of a 26-year-old Bond, a promising yet sometimes rebellious Royal Navy air crewman who is recruited into MI6, immersing them in the exotic and dangerous world of espionage captured in the films.
Bond’s adventures will take players all around the globe, coming face to face with allies and foes while choosing how they overcome obstacles and challenges, whether it be with brute force, cunning guile, or charming wit.
007 First Light will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 in March 2027.
