One of the best PlayStation platformers is coming back in 2027 with a brand-new physical release. Developer Argonaut Games has officially announced multiple physical releases for the recently released remaster of Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos.
It's currently available on digital editions for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation5, PlayStation4, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC via Steam and GOG, while physical editions for PlayStation5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X are all expected to arrive some time next year.
The Croc Franchise Is Returning After 27 Years
Argonaut Games co-CEO Mike Arkin released a statement following the announcement, reading, "We are thrilled for players to jump into the next Croc adventure today. With updated visuals and modern controls alongside the original's classic 3D platforming, we welcome fans back to the Kingdom of the Gobbos and introduce new players to this wonderful sequel."
Argonaut Games founder Jez San added, "Croc 2 holds a special place in Argonaut's history, and bringing it back remastered for today's platforms has been a true labor of love. Sharing this classic with another generation of players today is something very special."
Argonaut Games also released a statement from Croc's arch-enemy, Baron Dante, reading, "The day has arrived, Gobbos. Though I get the strangest feeling of déjà vu, like we have done this all before. No matter. My Dantinis and I have a little revenge planned, and this time no triple-jumping crocodile is going to stop us!"
Originally released in 1999, Croc 2 marked the second entry in Argonaut Software's premier platforming series. The game puts players in control of Croc, who traverses various open-ended levels while carrying out missions, usually to help the diminutive Gobbos who adopted him as one of their own.

Upon its release, Croc 2 was met with generally positive if middling reviews, largely due to its odd camera angles and occasionally extreme difficulty during certain sections. That being said, Croc 2 still managed to draw in new fans of the cult classic franchise, with the game receiving multiple re-releases since its initial launch.
Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos was released on October 29, giving fans a remastered version of the original to revisit on nearly every major gaming platform. Early responses to Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos have effectively repeated history, garnering positive yet mild responses from critics. As of the time of writing, Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos holds a 65/100 Metascore via review aggregator Metacritic.
Among the various features that have been retooled and expanded upon from the original Croc 2 is Croc2pedia, which gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Croc 2 and its remastered edition.
