Long Awaited BMX Adventure ‘Tanuki: Pon’s Summer’ Gets a Fall Release Date

Publisher Critical Reflex and developer Denkiworks have announced that Tanuki: Pon’s Summer will launch on November 10, 2026. The BMX delivery adventure is coming to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

The release date was confirmed during today’s Nintendo Indie World Showcase, where the PlayStation and Nintendo Switch 2 versions were also announced. Pre-orders are currently available for $19.99 on Xbox and the Nintendo eShop. The game will also be available through Xbox Game Pass on PC and consoles at launch.

Tanuki: Pon’s Summer follows Pon, a tanuki who works as a part-time mail carrier on a fictional Japanese island. His job involves delivering letters and packages around town using a BMX bike, with each delivery presenting different challenges depending on the size, shape, and weight of the cargo. Outside of his postal duties, Pon is working to restore the Great Tanuki Shrine before the island’s end-of-summer festival.

Players can freely explore the island on two wheels, performing tricks, grinding rails, and launching off ramps while finding new routes between destinations. There are over 100 BMX challenges to complete, giving players additional activities to tackle between deliveries.

The island’s residents also play a role in Pon’s summer activities. Building friendships with townspeople opens up opportunities to participate in baseball, sumo wrestling, sushi making, and other minigames. Completing deliveries and taking part in these activities earns money and items that can be used to repair, upgrade, and decorate the Great Tanuki Shrine ahead of the festival.

Pon can also customize his appearance with crossover hats inspired by other games, including Hollow Knight: Silksong, PEAK, and Shovel Knight.
