Publisher Shiravune has announced that Purple Software’s sci-fi visual novel Moon Ghost is coming to PC via Steam. An 18+ version is also listed for Johren, with additional platforms planned for announcement at a later date. A release date has not been confirmed.
Moon Ghost takes place in the year 2199, when androids have gained the ability to perceive human souls, known as ghosts. The story centers on Moonbase 13, a facility called the Garden, where androids help deceased individuals resolve their lingering regrets so they can move on.
Players follow Da’at, a newly activated android intelligence still undergoing its education. After awakening at the Garden, Da’at begins assisting troubled ghosts alongside other androids. However, a mysterious bell connected to an approaching catastrophe suggests something far greater is happening beyond their daily work.
Among the central characters is Binah, an android manufactured in 2109 who became the first to perceive ghosts. Da’at also has no fixed gender and switches between male and female bodies depending on the situation. Other characters include Maria, a French dollmaker who died in 2013, and Himeko Sato, a ghost who has retained her human appearance.
The story also introduces Humanity’s Representative, an entity that communicates on behalf of Earth’s ten billion people. By 2199, humanity lives entirely within virtual reality, with human brains linked together.
Moon Ghost features full Japanese voice acting, including Kiiro Tsukino as Binah, Haruto Tsuruya as Da’at, Sui Mizushiro as Maria, Ria Shinonome as Himeko Sato, and Hana Akino as Humanity’s Representative. The game will support English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese text.
