Rayman Legends Retold has been delayed just weeks before its planned October release, pushing Ubisoft's return to the Glade of Dreams deeper into the holiday season. Ubisoft originally announced Rayman Legends Retold with an October 1 release date, positioning the game as much more than a straightforward remaster. Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan, the project rebuilds the original Rayman Legends with new 3D visuals, a brand-new story, fully voiced cinematics, a mysterious sixth realm, additional musical stages, dragon-riding sequences, and local co-op for up to four players. The package also includes Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, giving longtime Rayman fans another reason to revisit two of the franchise's most celebrated platformers.
Rayman Legends Retold Delayed Just Weeks Before Release
Ubisoft has now confirmed on Twitter that Rayman Legends Retold will launch on December 3, 2026, rather than October 1, amounting to a roughly two-month delay announced only weeks before its original release date. Interestingly, the publisher says the game has already gone gold, traditionally indicating that a release build has been finalized for manufacturing and distribution. Ubisoft did not identify a specific reason for the decision, instead saying the teams want more time to ensure "every detail gets the care it deserves." However, fans will not have to wait until December for another look, as a new Game Overview Trailer is scheduled for September 22 alongside hands-on impressions. The delay also gives Ubisoft's light 2026 release schedule just a bit more breathing room heading into the end of the year.
The fact that Rayman Legends Retold had already gone gold makes the delay particularly notable, since delays are more commonly announced before a game reaches that milestone. That said, going gold doesn't necessarily mean development has completely stopped, as studios routinely continue working on bug fixes, performance improvements, and launch-day updates afterward. Ubisoft hasn't explained exactly what prompted the post-gold delay, but the September 22 overview and hands-on impressions should offer a much clearer look at the game's current state.
