IKEA is officially coming to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, even if fans aren't quite sure what that will look like just yet.
In a recent Twitter post from the official Ikea UK social media account, fans can catch a glimpse of one of the most unexpected crossovers of all time. A short video features swords, enchanted Allen wrenches, and other assorted rubble piled high, at the top of which sits an instantly recognizable 4x2 white Kallax shelf.
Skyrim Is Officially Coming to Ikea
The Kallax line is one of the most popular that IKEA produces, with the various models of Kallax furniture adorning millions of homes all over the world. Each Kallax piece begins with the same stacked cube structure, with various sizes and assemblies offering a near infinite range of storage options that are as innocuous as they are fitting in almost any living space.
While the upcoming IKEA and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim crossover is set to kick off in less than a week, with the date 09.09.2026 featured prominently in the social media posts regarding the collaboration, it still isn't clear exactly what fans should be expecting. Many have posted online about their wishes to wield a runic Allen Wrench in-game, while others assume this means that players will be able to decorate their in-game homes with their own Kallax shelves.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was originally released in 2011 as the fifth mainline entry in the fan-favorite The Elder Scrolls video game series from Bethesda. Upon its release, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was widely lauded by critics and audiences alike, garnering rave reviews and dozens of major industry award nominations and wins, including multiple Game of the Year titles.
In the years since, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has continued to hold a special place in both the realm of video games and the wider realm of pop culture. As of the time of writing, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has sold more than 65 million copies after being re-released for every single major gaming platform, often multiple times over.
The latest major re-release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim came in May with the arrival of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2. This particular version of the game includes The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, as well as the Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn expansions, plus all of the items, craftables, and quests that are available as part of the Creation Club feature.
While gamers have spent the better part of two decades exploring the world of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, they can finally rest assured that a sixth The Elder Scrolls game is finally on the way. In July, developer Bethesda released an official statement reading, "Our teams are now developing The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 on Creation Engine 3, a shared technology platform we've been building since Starfield's launch."
"The Elder Scrolls VI is our primary development focus today, with the majority of our team currently working on the next chapter of the franchise," the statement continues. "With over 65 million copies sold, players are still exploring Skyrim 15 years later, but we know it’s been a very long wait for the sequel. The next chapter is on the way. We’re where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day."
