CD Projekt Red has issued a release window for The Witcher 4 and predictably, fans aren’t enthused that it’ll be beyond the cutoff of Sony killing discs.

Earlier in the week, CDPR announced The Witcher 4 is “targeting” 2028. The studio hasn’t said anything about the matter, but it really is just GG for those hoping for a physical edition since Sony’s disc decision isn’t exclusive to its first-party games. Naturally, fans across the net have made their opinions clear.

The sad part about this is how it’s going to affect developers who had no part in this decision going forward, The trending No Disc, No Buy movement has led to even smaller devs facing hardships and more often than not, any time games see a trailer on the PS YouTube, it’s immediately flooded by people calling on Sony to reverse its decision rather than the game itself.

In case you’ve missed the news, though, people are in the midst of boycotting PlayStation for an indeterminate length of time. This means not turning on, logging in, or purchasing anything on the platform. How successful this will actually be is up in the air, but we highly doubt that Sony will reverse course here.

The Witcher 4’s proper release date is still up in the air, but 2028 is the release year.
