The Witcher Reveals New $480 Release Coming in 2027

The Witcher 4 might not launch for a few more years, but the franchise is getting a new release in 2027, and people who want to experience it at its fullest will have to shell out a lot of coins, as its most expensive edition costs $480 USD.

Board game adaptations of popular video games are fairly common, as the source material is often a great fit for the tabletop format. This is why games like Elden Ring and Vampire Survivors have received official board games, despite their epic scope, as studios have found a way to condense them into cardboard and paper. The Witcher is an even better fit, with the whole purpose of the titular warriors being to hunt monsters for coins.

The Witcher: Legacy Has An Extremely Expensive Edition

The Witcher: Legacy is an upcoming board game that's telling a new story in the franchise, one before the arrival of Geralt of Rivia. In The Witcher: Legacy, 1–4 players will discover the truth of the siege of Kaer Morhen, the stronghold of the School of the Wolf Witchers, which is still badly damaged in Geralt's era.

Those who want to play The Witcher: Legacy can secure their copy now on Game Found, though it's not expected to launch until June 2027. Fans who want the ultimate experience can pay $624 USD for the "Shaded / I want it all!" edition, which features the base game, multiple additional Scenarios, an artbook, a dice set, a metal bookmark, a set of dice trays, and a coin set. Most importantly, this edition comes with the Legends Pack, which makes characters like Geralt and Yennefer playable in the final Scenario.

The Witcher: Legacy Shows The Downfall Of Kaer Morhen

The Witcher: Legacy is set after the fall of Kaer Morhen, with each player taking on the role of one of the survivors of the battle. It's up to these Witchers to learn who was behind the attack, while also completing their regular duties of killing monsters and breaking curses whenever they pose a threat to the population.

Unlike most board games, The Witcher: Legacy has a strong focus on narrative, almost akin to a tabletop RPG, and the story can go in multiple directions. If the $480 price tag seems like a lot, just bear in mind that The Witcher: Legacy is a long game, one that can take days to finish, and those without friends with iron bladders who can play for that long can complete it using the solo player mode. If the player is lucky, The Witcher 4 should be out by the time the extra content in the most expensive edition is finished.
